HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnosis usually brings about a deeply relaxed state in which mental and bodily tension is lessened.
While in this relaxed state a person is often more open to change.
Hypnosis can be put together with the appropriate psychotherapeutic approaches (hypnotherapy) to attain a better mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, and to help bring about change in a very positive way.
Hypnotherapy may help to achieve positive results in many conditions and problematic areas of life such as:-
Gaining in personal growth
eg. |
Building/improving confidence and self esteem |
Resolving relationship problems |
Improving sports performance |
Resolving work and career issues |

More motivation |
Stress related disorders

Anxiety/panic attacks |
Insomnia |
Phobias |
Skin complaints |
Psychosomatic illness |
Headaches and migraines |
IBS |
Management/resolution of personal life difficulties
eg. |
Bereavement |
Divorce |
Trauma |
Coping with illness/surgery/pain management |
Job loss |

There will be many more life issues affecting us than those listed above, which can be discussed in confidence. A medical model (ie. diagnosis, treatment cure) may not lend itself to the above ‘life problems’ and the presenting problem may be a manifestation or reflection of underlying or additional issues.
CONSULTATION/ASSESSMENT SESSION – APPROX. 2 HOURS
The first hour of this session, before hypnotherapy takes place, is designed for the discussion of the issues needing resolution, a case history to be taken if necessary, and a treatment plan or approach to be looked at.
Medical issues may also be discussed in this session and although hypnosis/hypnotherapy is not contra-indicated very often, communication with a client’s G.P. or consultant may sometimes be indicated. This would not be done without due consent being given.
In the second hour of this session, depending upon what has gone before, there may be an introduction to hypnosis.
THE HYPNOTHERAPY SESSIONS
Almost everyone who wishes to be hypnotised or undertake hypnotherapy can achieve a level of relaxation deep enough to allow appropriate therapy to happen.
During the session you would be asked to sit in a comfortable chair, and if you so wish, be guided into a state of deep mental and physical relaxation. You would usually still be aware of where you are whilst relaxing, and could choose to come out of hypnosis at any time.
At the end of the session you are gently brought out of hypnosis, back to the normal waking state.
Mostly, people find the whole experience deeply relaxing and very pleasant.
